Don’t like reading? We created a quick n’ easy infographic for you below. Want to learn more? Read the full article below it!

New Viewers – Take ‘Em or Leave ‘Em?

Take ‘em of course!

The single most important factor in a broadcaster’s growth is their ability to convert new viewers into diehard supporters. Broadcasters who don’t cater to new viewers often grow stagnant or fall in Rank.

If you only think about your immediate goals (ex: “hitting +1 today”) then your community may not expand as you like. Focusing solely on your current supporters might create too much pressure or expectation on them to be responsible for your continued growth and success.

This is why it is important to reserve some energy to focus on new viewers who, when turned into fans, will help you grow without forcing your current supporters to work even harder.

Without a strategy for engaging with new viewers, they are likely to quickly swipe past your broadcast and never return.

This is why you must have a different strategy for speaking to new viewers as opposed to current supporters! So, plan on creating an exciting way to communicate what you want to achieve and how the new viewer can help.

Think “Why should this new viewer care about me, and what can I offer them in return for their support in helping me succeed?”

A great metaphor is to imagine your supporters as a pyramid! You cannot make the pyramid higher unless you make it wider at its base first. Turning new viewers into supporters is the only way to expand that base!

The Ideal New Viewer Journey

Some broadcasters are naturals at capturing the attention of new viewers. But others need a little help!

So, we have created the Ideal New Viewer Journey as a tool to succeed. Learning, understanding, and using this journey is a sure way to increase your chances of acquiring fresh new supporters.

We’ll quickly provide an overview of the journey, then breakdown each part with some helpful tips & examples. Let’s begin!

1. Moment of Arrival

The average new viewer spends only about 2-3 seconds in a broadcast before they decide to stay or leave. As a broadcaster, you must quickly grab their attention.

Tip #1: New viewers need to feel warmly welcomed and included immediately

  • Call out the new viewer by their username as soon as you notice them!
  • Don’t force the viewer to comment or use Items, but gently invite them to engage in a way that suits your broadcasts and your personality.
    • “Feel free to comment if you’d like!”
    • “If you stick around for a bit, you’ll earn free Coins in a PocoBox! You could even try using an Item on me with those Coins, if you feel like it… 😉”

Tip #2 – Give priority to the new viewers and talk to them first

  • Stop the conversation going on in the broadcast for a moment to welcome the new viewer(s).
  • Keep in mind that new viewers have extremely short attention spans. It’s also VERY easy to scroll through broadcasters with just the flick of a finger! If you don’t address them quickly, they could leave before you greet them!
  • Note: They need time to get used to this app and observe communication, so don’t force them to leave comments right away! Let them stay and engage at their own pace.

Tip #3 – Give the viewer some time to “chill”

  • An overwhelming welcome can scare away viewers actually, so don’t do too much.
  • Let them watch or a bit to see how the broadcast works.
  • Then reach out after a while to ask them a question and check in with them. Appropriate time (3-5 mins)
  • This doesn’t mean DON’T talk to new viewers however, it just means to give them space after an initial hello. Greet them then in a bit raise a topic or question that they can comment and join!

2. Turn Lurkers Into Engagers

Viewers are often very very shy and not likely to actively engage in communication. So as a broadcaster you need to have patience with them.

Tip #1 – Reintroduce them into conversation if they’ve been quiet for a bit

  • “Hey ___! How are you? Are you getting used to the app? Any questions?”
  • “What do you think about [current conversation topic], __?”
  • “Hey ___, how’s your week been? Anything fun happen? Any plans for the weekend?”

Tip #2 – Introduce yourself!

  • Talk about your hobbies, special skills, content of your broadcast, fun facts about yourself, etc.

Tip #3 – Ask them about themselves — make communication personal!

  • Note: Viewers tend to stick to a broadcaster with whom they have a personal communication and who they feel “recognizes” them.
  • No need to aggressively ask questions if they aren’t willing to share! Sometimes just the show of interest is enough; connections will naturally deepen with time.

Tip #4 – Offer to answer questions about Pococha!

  • Use this as an opportunity to educate new viewers a bit! Tell them that Pococha is a communication app, where we talk together with everybody. Reassure them that it’s not scary, and that you’re excited to get to know them
  • Teach the viewer about Pococha, explain what Items are and how they help your goal, explain PocoBoxes and how the viewer can earn free Coins to support you.

Tip #5 – Ask your top supporters to help communicate with the new viewer, after they have had time to chill.

  • The supporters can say hi to the new viewer in the chat, ask them questions, and introduce themselves.

Tip #6 – Most Important: Focus on what the viewer wants to discuss, and listen.

  • Don’t only talk about what you want.
  • If the viewer doesn’t want to talk, that’s ok! Let them lurk for a bit longer than try again later. Never give up!

3. The First Goodbye

When your new potential supporter exits the broadcast for the first time, it’s important to give them a proper sendoff!

Tip #1 – Make sure to ask them to follow you! VERY IMPORTANT

  • Viewers are a lot more likely to return if they receive a notification for when you go live.
    • NOTE: Some phones automatically disallow apps from sending notifications! Regularly remind your viewers (new and regular) to check their phone settings and make sure they allow notifications from Pococha.
  • Don’t forget to invite them to your next broadcast and say you’ll be looking for them to say hi and continue conversation!
  • Show the viewer where the Follow button is! Point to it in the broadcast and thank them once they do it. It should show in the chat!
    • [Show graphic of where follow button it]
  • DATA
    • If the viewer follows, they are 25% more likely to return
    • Yukiko has this data. We will add it here.

Tip #2 – Remind viewers to say goodbye before they leave!

  • One issue that some broadcasters have is they have “lurker” viewers who leaves without announcing it. Make sure to tell new viewers in advance to say “bye” before leaving so that you can say goodbye too.
  • Psychologically, it will make the new viewer feel as if they already have a connection with the broadcaster, and it will ask them to agree to a sort of “social contract” when they are already agreeing to “help” the broadcaster in a way.
  • This also holds the new viewer accountable — they may feel guilty if they don’t say goodbye, which increases their chance of engaging.

Tip #3 – Share your next broadcast schedule with the viewer

  • “I will broadcast tomorrow at 8pm I hope you will join!”
  • Also encourage the viewer to check out your profile for your schedule and more information.

4. The Reunion

If your potential supporter returns a second time, it means they’re very likely to turn into a regular supporter. Be sure to treat this moment very carefully.

Tip #1 – Do whatever you can to reference their first visit!

  • Call them by name and recall any conversations you had, personal info they mentioned, or fun moments they witnessed. Viewers are much more likely to connect with & commit to a broadcaster when they think, “They remembered me!”
    • Say, “I remember you from the last time you were here!”
    • Say, “That’s right; we talked about ___ last time!”

Tip #2 – Tell them you want to know more about them!

  • Ask your viewers questions, and take notes on what they say! Build a genuine connection with them, and offer info about yourself in return.
  • Take notes on the person’s hobbies, background, birthdays, and conversations you’ve had before.
    • Don’t be afraid to let people see you taking notes, or to tell them you’re taking notes! You might think it’s rude, but it actually conveys a sense of dedication that will make your viewers certain that you’re paying close attention to them.
  • We also suggest writing down your viewers’ birthdays on a calendar and having a “birthday party” every month!

Tip #3 – Be more straightforward than usual when communicating through a screen!

  • Some broadcasters may feel uncomfortable being so straightforward when telling viewers that they’re “glad they’re back” or give blunt compliments/observations. This is necessary in a digital environment to make sure that your feelings are coming across despite the distance. It may feel awkward at first, but it is actually comforting and reassuring for the viewer to be certain of how you (the broadcaster) feels.

New Viewer Becomes New Supporter

If the Ideal New Viewer Journey is followed and executed, your new viewers are going to be a lot more likely to turn into supporters.

Try these tips out during your next broadcasts. Also encourage your other supporters to learn about the journey and treat new viewers in the same way.

We hope these tips have helped!

Q&A: Strategy For Success: Events

Thank you to everyone who submitted questions about our recent blog, Strategy For Success: Events!

In the blog, we’ll be answering some of our users’ most asked questions!

  1. Q1: I can’t earn enough Event Points to win a prize in an Event, so why should I still compete?
  2. Q2: I don’t know which Event to enter, how should I choose?
  3. Q3: There aren’t enough winners. When will there be more Stages, Divisions, and types of Events?

Q1: I can’t earn enough Event Points to win a prize in an Event, so why should I still compete?

We cover the answer to this question in detail in the blog, but we’re happy to discuss it again!

Remember, there are more benefits to competing in an event than just winning a prize. You can gain tangible benefits from an Event as long as you enter the event, inspire your viewers to support you, and continue to work hard until the last moment.

These benefits include:

  • A chance to get viewers excited for a new & bigger competition.
  • Creating unforgettable moments during the Event that a Family can bond over and become closer.
  • Usually, broadcasters can earn a higher amount of Support Points than normal due to increased support from viewers.
  • Appearing on the Event ranking list creates a great opportunity to be seen by other users on the app.
  • Supporters can showcase their loyalty by becoming PocoKnights of the broadcaster.

Plus, many more benefits!

Win or lose, a community becomes closer and stronger during a Pococha Event. So why wouldn’t you compete?!

Q2: I don’t know which Event to enter, how should I choose?

Great question!

Here are some quick tips on deciding the right Event to sign up for:

  1. Find an Event with a theme or prize that matches your goals.
    1. If you’re looking to be discovered and seen by many, try winning one of the billboard events! Provide your supporters with a passionate story about why you want to win.
  2. Ask your supporters to help you pick!
    1. You can’t win an Event without your amazing supporters, so check with them about which Event they want to support you in.
  3. Choose an Event that works well for you & your supporters.
    1. Events can take a lot of energy for the broadcaster and the viewer. This is because broadcasters should try to broadcast each day of the Event if they are trying to win. Be sure to time your competition in an Event with the time when your supporters can try their hardest and give it their all.
  4. Choose the Event in which you have the best opportunity to win.
    1. Look at the other broadcasters who are competing and gauge how well you think you can perform.
    2. Look at the amount of Stages and Divisions in an Event. More Stages and Divisions means there will be more winners!

Q3: There aren’t enough winners. When will there be more Stages, Divisions, and types of Events?

Pococha is always trying out new types of Events to bring to users, as well as different kinds of prizes and opportunities for winners. Pococha usually announces new types of Events during our regular Round Table events. Attend the next one to learn if any new Events are coming!

The amount of Divisions for an Event is decided by the amount of users who signed up for the Event. We want to make sure that there is the correct amount of broadcasters to create an exciting and fair competition. If more users sign up, there will be more Divisions!

Strategy For Success: Events!

Today we’re going to to talk about another useful tool for becoming a successful broadcaster – Events!

Events are competitions on Pococha that usually last longer than one day and provide exclusive opportunities and prizes for users. In Ranking Events, winners can receive prizes such a profile backgrounds, Poco merch, and even their photo on billboards across the country. Another exciting Event is the Family Clash, in which Family members can create bonuses by sending a specific kind of Item. Another type of Event, the Poco Challenge, rewards both broadcaster and top viewers with Coins for completing missions. And for beginners, we have the PocoTraining and Rookie of the Month Events!

In this blog we’ll be mainly focusing on Ranking Events, in which participants are ranked according to their performance (such as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.)

What are the benefits of participating in an Event?

Many users think Events are not worth participating in unless there is a chance of getting 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place. But actually, there are many more benefits to participating in Events than just the top prizes. Let’s discuss!

1. Win or lose, the community becomes stronger

A professional broadcaster must broadcast regularly and frequently. Often, they can have trouble creating exciting momentum that will inspire their viewers to increase support. This is where an Event can help!

Events can be a medium to large sized goal for your community to rally around together. Competing on the Rank Meter is important, but since it occurs daily it may not excite supporters as much. Creating a goal such as “Let’s try to win this event” can provide a new type of goal to energize your fans.

Even if you don’t win the Event, it doesn’t mean your effort was worthless! Every famous sports team has experiences losses. But instead of giving up, they fight are until the end and work harder for the next one.

Use Events as an opportunity to work hard with your community, then reflect on your performance and improve for the next Event. Plus, you’ll never win if you don’t try! And you won’t be able to try hard unless you practice with your supporters.

2. A chance to earn more Support Points than normal

Regardless of the result, you can earn more Support Points if you could make it an exciting goal for your community.

Even if you get 10th, 20th, or 100th place, the hard work of your supporters will likely lead to more Support Points than average during the Event period. This can have great benefits for increasing Rank, earning Time Diamonds, and hitting bonuses!

3. Win exclusive Event prizes & experiences

The higher your Rank, the more exciting Events you can enter that have unique and exclusive prizes.

We call this the Event Journey!

What types of prizes do we choose?

We want prizes that the users cannot normally receive elsewhere! Instead of just giving away a trophy, for instance, we want to give away an incredible experience that the broadcaster can share with their supporters.

This is why we have many prizes like the billboard that create an amazing and memorable experience for everyone. Prizes that provide a sense of honor and accomplishment to the community.

As Pococha grows, we will continue to create new kinds of Events with a wide range of prizes that will cater to the dreams & goals of all our broadcasters.

Event Strategy

To win a Pococha Event, you need to have a strategy!

And whether you win or not, it’s important to take the Event seriously to bond with your viewers. Here’s 3 of our favorite tips for Events.

When you decide to sign up for an Event, it is important to be ready to broadcast each day during the Event period so you can earn as many Event Points as possible.

Winning broadcasters don’t just worry about the last day, they get a head start by broadcasting every day and pushing hard the whole time.

Also, during the Event, many broadcasters write “participating in XX Event!” in their username or on their profile picture. This makes it easy to show your commitment and determination towards an Event and show viewers you are in it.

Have you heard of “Snipe Time”?

It’s the last half hour of an Event. The most competitive time when broadcasters try to strategically have their viewers send Items so they can sneak up on or stay ahead in the competition.

Just like End Time determines the Rank Points on the Rank Meter, Snipe Time and the end of an Event determines which place everybody will be in!

So what is the best way to use Snipe Time to your advantage? Create a strategy with your Family! Many broadcasters ask their Family members to send certain Items at exact moments to try and snipe the meter.

Finally, try not to randomly block viewers in your broadcast just because they are not doing anything. As long as they are not harassing you, they could end up contributing to your success – not only during the Event but in the future as well.

To get the most support from viewers during an Event, the viewers need to be excited about the Event and serious about winning it.

To do this, it is important to be able to talk about the reasons you want to participate in the event and how excited you are when you imagine receiving the prize.

It’s hard for viewers to care about a broadcaster’s goal if it is not trying as hard as possible! Consider it your job to speak to your viewers and moticate them to want to help you win the Event.

In this way, create collaborative goals with your supporters!

Try something like “Let’s win this Event so we can experience the prize together!.”

In other words, make it “our goal” not just “my goal”. To create these goals together, it’s important to ask your Family about ideas & strategy and to use the Family chat for planning.

Again, Events aren’t just about winning!

It’s important to always try to win the prize, but again, Events are not just about winning. It’s for the community. So regardless of the result, your community management & growing together is the most important part.

If you lose, let’s say, “Thanks for all your support. I hope we can try again together next time.”

The bonds you formed and the strategies you tried out will only make it easier next time!

Look forward to more types of Events

As we mentioned, as the Pococha community grows we will continue to create new types of Events with different kinds of prizes & experiences.

We are also considering Events where a broadcaster has the ability to share their prizes with their top supporters. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Pococha Success Blogs

Hello Pococha!

Recently we have created many blogs that contain different strategies and tips for being successful on Pococha. We’ve decided to summarize and include them all here!

Learn The Pococha Rewards System

This blog discusses the rewards that a broadcaster can earn on Pococha.

Broadcasters earn diamond rewards as a direct result of the amount of viewer support they earn. Pococha does not “pay” it’s broadcasters. They are not employees of the company. Instead, broadcasters are creators using the Pococha platform to increase the size of their fan communities and earn rewards from viewer support.

Currently, Pococha is not taking any sort of commission fee or cut from broadcaster’s rewards. Currently, the maximum amount of rewards is being provided to broadcasters.

As broadcasters become bigger influencers, the app will grow with them increasing the size of rewards.

Why Do Rank Borders Move?

This blog discusses the factors that determine the movement of the Rank Meter.

Rank on Pococha shows the relative amount of support a broadcaster has, compared to other users on the app. So in order to increase Rank, a broadcaster must be earning more Support Points than the other broadcasters they are competing against.

This is the function of the Rank Meter. It provides an even playing field for broadcasters to compete on, and see who can earn the most support. This is also why the rank meter moves. If a broadcaster earns more Support than you, the rank border will increase because you must now earn more Support Points to show you can earn more support.

Thus, Pococha does not decide the levels of the meter. Instead, the meter movement is determined directly by the actions of other broadcasters.

Rank Meters often move the most and the quickest right before End Time. This is because End Time is when the meter positions of broadcasters is decided. There can only be a certain percentage of broadcasters in each section of the meter, so users compete the hardest at the very last moments before the competition is decided.

A creator must be competitive on any platform, not just Pococha.

Instead of hiding the competition like other apps do, we believe that having competition out in the open is the best way for creators to grow their status and communities.

Why Should I Broadcast At End Time?

This blog discusses why End Time exists, why it is important, and how it can be used as a tool to increase support and succeed.

We often hear questions like:

  • Why can’t I broadcast whenever I want?
  • Why do we have to compete each day?
  • What if I need breaks?

We’d like to answer these questions and more!

End Time period is the 24-hour time period during which broadcasters can earn Support Points. Once End Time has finished, broadcasters will earn or lose Rank Points depending on their performance on the Rank Meter. Once enough Rank Points are earned, a broadcaster can increase their Rank!

Q&A: Strategy For Success – The Atomic Family

Thank you to everyone who submitted questions about our recent blog, Strategy For Success: The Atomic Family.

In the blog, we’ll be answering some of the most asked questions!

  1. Q1: I have 3-4 viewers who really want to see me succeed, but they cannot always support a lot or send lots of Items. What can I do?
  2. Q2: I have individual supporters, but they don’t seem to work together. How can I help them?
  3. Q3: Currently I don’t have any supporters who I would consider part of my Atomic Family, how can I start?
  4. Q4: What is the best way to get new viewers?

Q1: I have 3-4 viewers who really want to see me succeed, but they cannot always support a lot or send lots of Items. What can I do?

That’s ok!

Having a small group of committed supporters is a great start, even if they cannot support a lot yet. The important thing is to keep them close by your side.

Start with giving them roles & responsibilities inside your community that do not require a lot of Coins.

  • Ask them to become an Admin
  • Give them the task of welcoming all new viewers
  • See if they can check the Rank Meter frequently

These tasks will give the viewer a sense of responsibility in the community and a feeling of unity.

Then, you can slowly give the viewer slightly bigger goals. Try things like:

  • “I am looking to be #1 in the Heart Item today, can you send one Item to help?”
  • “I am only 1 Core Fan away from a bonus, could you help by becoming one?”

Remember to create unique and valuable benefits for your viewers. If their goals are aligned with yours, then they will help in any way they can. Eventually, their small contributions will turn into larger ones.

Q2: I have individual supporters, but they don’t seem to work together. How can I help them?

As we mentioned, it’s much better to have lots of supporters who work together rather than only a few supporters who don’t.

This is because if an individual supporter cannot or decides to not support, it will greatly affect the success of the broadcaster.

Try encouraging your supporters to work together on goals and to communicate with each other in the broadcast and in the Family chat.

Tell your individual supporters the importance of working with other viewers and how important it is to you.

Don’t let one supporter start to feel jealous of other viewers or too protective of you. Explain to them that in order to achieve your goal you want to work together with the entire community, and the supporter should too.

If a viewer wants to be your only supporter or doesn’t want to work with others, they may not be a good fit for the community in the long-term.

Q3: Currently I don’t have any supporters who I would consider part of my Atomic Family, how can I start?

We discuss this in the article!

Here are the 5 steps to help turn a viewer into an Atomic Family member:

  1. Communicate with the viewer & provide certain levels of feedback
  2. Search hard to find the first few viewers who are on your side
  3. Share your goals
  4. Make goals personal for the viewer by assigning roles
  5. Listen to & trust your Atomic Family, don’t ignore them!

For more details about these steps, check out the 2nd half of the Atomic Family blog.

Q4: What is the best way to get new viewers?

Here’s some tips to try and get new viewers into your broadcast, and keep them there!

  • Add an eye-catching photo to your profile that will make viewers want to enter
  • Have Family members add interesting hashtags to your broadcast. These will be visible on the search page of Pococha and might entice a new viewer to join!
  • Promote each broadcast on your other social media channels, encouraging your follows to come check out Pococha.
  • Create a wide range of rewards and benefits for your viewers. Try having super exciting reactions whenever a viewer does something in your broadcast. And offer bigger rewards to viewers if they help support you for your goals.

Here’s a great article that talks about creating benefits for viewers!
5 Tips For Asking For Support From Viewers
Q&A: 5 Tips For Asking For Support From Viewers

Most importantly, viewers want to support a broadcaster who is motivated to be successful on Pococha and shows this during their broadcast!

Don’t forget to fill out the blog feedback survey to let us know if you liked the blog. You can also submit questions about the blog that will be answered in a follow up blog!

What is the Atomic Family?

Answer this question:

Do you have a small group of supporters who are committed to helping you Rank up and achieve goals?

This group is the Atomic Family! They are viewers who are serious about supporting and cheering you on in your journey to increase your Rank. This is slightly different from a group of individual viewers.

These committed viewers are the foundation for your first inner circle of fans. Only after this core group of fans is created can the community begin to grow!

In order to earn money as a broadcaster, you need to be supported by a fan community that helps you Rank up. The Atomic Family is the first team of 3-4 supporters that form the foundation of that fan community.

What makes an Atomic Family supporter different than a normal viewer?

The Atomic Family supporter take personal responsibility for the broadcaster ranking up or down, and they work together not just to support the broadcaster, but to contribute to the overall community in which they have status and where they thrive.

Why are these types of viewers important?

Most creators face a “chicken or the egg” type of paradox. Which came first?

The biggest creators are the ones who are the easiest for new fans to discover. They appear higher up on timelines, they get featured by companies, etc. But in order to become big, the creator already. needed to have a strong community of supporters.

So how can a small creator with little exposure be discovered by new viewers who will support them?

Just like the chicken and the egg, which came first – the broadcaster’s success or the support?

The answer is the Atomic Family!

Creators become big by first focusing on creating a small group of supporters (we like to say 3-4 people). Once the creator and these supporters have established a mutually beneficial relationship, then it can be sustained and grown!

It might be difficult to get the first 3-4 supporters, but once you do the rest will be easier.

Imagine a snowball rolling down the hill. At first, someone creates a small but strong snowball in their hand. Then, they roll it down the hill. As it rolls, it picks up more and more snow until it is gigantic!

The gigantic snowball could never have existed without the small but strong snowball in the palm of the creator. Your Atomic Family is like this snowball!

A Family might seem like a group of individual fans, but an Atomic Family is the strongest type of Family that acts as a “team” of supporters. The fact that top broadcasters call their broadcasters “Our Family” instead of “My Family” shows that broadcasters who can organize a team are the strongest.

If a broadcaster has lots of support but it is only coming from one supporter, it likely is not sustainable in the long-run. It is not sustainable because it is highly dependent on the feelings of that one viewer, which can vary, and on the limit of what that one viewer can support you. If that supporter decides to stop, then the broadcaster is left out to dry.

This is why an Atomic Family, of at least 3 or more supporters, is a more sustainable way to achieve success!

How Can I Create An Atomic Family?

The strategy is to create a strong & stable small Atomic Family and then grow it together with your supporters. So how can we actually create the first small Atomic Family? Let’s take a look.

1. Communicate with the viewer & provide certain levels of feedback

The viewers who make up the Atomic Family are those who support your goals as a broadcaster and your personal goals. You must first create the potential for this to happen by using communication (speaking and interacting) with the viewer!

Change your “feedback” to the viewer based on how much the viewer supports you. In this context, a broadcaster’s “feedback” is any reaction they have to a viewer’s action. For example – every reply, reaction, conversation, Family chat, or Item reaction counts as “feedback” to the viewer.

While you should have a bond with all viewers, you should focus on creating the strongest bonds with your top supporters. Provide them with the biggest and most feedback.

To make each viewer support more, viewers have to learn that they will be rewarded with better or more exclusive feedback when they support the broadcaster more meaningfully. Make it clear with your feedback that you reward bigger support from a viewer with bigger reactions, closer attention, more gratitude, etc.

Here’s an example of 2 levels of feedback for an Item reaction:

**Example #1: A viewer sends a 10 Coin “HeHe” Item. The broadcaster smiles and says “Thank you!”

**Example #2: A viewer sends a 1080 Coin Tropical Item. The broadcaster pretends to interact with the plants and animals, sings the viewer’s name multiple times, then asks the viewer questions about their favorite tropical drink.

Here you can see that the feedback in Example 2 is much more personal and creates a better reward for the viewer, because the viewer sent an Item worth more Coins.

2. Search hard to find the first few viewers who are on your side

Through your careful communication, some of your viewers will enjoy your broadcast in communication using Items.

What is the best way to identify potential Atomic Family members?

Keep an eye out for:

Top Priority:

▪Viewers who are interested in you

▪ Viewers who come to broadcasts regularly

▪ Viewers who regularly support you (even with small Items)

Next Priority:

▪ Viewers who ask questions to get to know you better

▪ Viewers who encourage other viewers to participate and support you

▪ Viewers who ask you to broadcast certain content or participate in specific events

▪ Viewers who post in the Family

▪ Viewers who get excited when the broadcaster gives them small roles within the broadcast (ex: “Check my Event points!”, “Keep track of how many X Items I get today, please!”, etc.)

When you’re having difficulty determining potential Atomic Family members, first pay attention to the number of Coins that viewers are spending. Viewers that spend the most Coins are the most likely to be committed supporters who require the best kind feedback.

3. Share your goals

Once you discover your first potential Atomic Family members and you can create strong bonds with them, it’s important to share with them your Pococha goals and your life goals! Then, extend them an invitation to try and achieve those together!

Instead of “I will be A Rank,” try to say “Let’s get to A Rank together!”

What’s the best way to share goals with supporters? Try thinking of yourself like a politician running for President – create a passionate story that will connect with your viewers and get them to want to vote for you!

4. Make goals personal for the viewer by assigning roles

You cannot achieve your goals on Pococha by yourself. It takes a Family for a broadcaster to achieve do this!

A broadcaster should not try to force their Family to support them. A better way is to create personal goals for supporters that align with your own goals. One great way to do this is by creating a role for the supporter that also contributes to the broadcaster’s goal.

For instance, ask your Atomic Family things like “Can you check the Rank Meter for me?” or “Can you welcome new viewers in the chat every time they enter?”

5. Listen to & trust your Atomic Family, don’t ignore them!

Your goal on Pococha is not only about you. Remember, a good goal is one that is created for the whole Family!

If your Atomic Family viewers suggest a new goal, let’s listen to them. The feeling that they are contributing to your community creates a sense of the loyalty and strengthens the connections.

For example, ask your Atomic Family things like “Which Item should we try to be #1 in today?”.

Remember it might be hard to create your first Atomic Family, but once you do it will be much easier to grow it! It is important to practice these tips and execute them during your broadcasts and in your Family chat.

Q&A: Why Should I Broadcast At End Time?

Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback & questions to our recent blog – Why Should I Broadcast At End Time?

We have reviewed all your questions and are responding to the most frequently asked questions about this blog.

Please take a look! If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact our customer support team.

  1. Q: If I earned Support Points during the day but then I get -1 at the end of the day, I feel like I wasted my time. What should I do?
  2. Q: I think End Time is too early/late. Can we change the time of End Time or create more than one?
  3. Q: I don’t want to broadcast at End time. Can you let me broadcast at any time I want?
  4. Q: I find it difficult to find viewers when I broadcast at End Time.

Q: If I earned Support Points during the day but then I get -1 at the end of the day, I feel like I wasted my time. What should I do?

As explained in the previous blog, End Time (like the finish time of a game in sports), is a criteria that determines the result of a competition. Pococha is a place where a broadcaster and their community competes again other communities.

So, the results are not decided until the very last moment. Consider in sports when a player is winning in the first half of a game only to be upset in the last few minutes, the same thing can happen on Pococha. It is important to work hard until the very last moment to win the competition.

This is why we encourage the broadcasters to broadcast at End time.

However, even if a broadcaster does not win the competition or does not reach their goal, it is still worthwhile! This is because a broadcaster will still earn all the Diamond bonuses for that day – no matter what they scored on the rank meter.

Q: I think End Time is too early/late. Can we change the time of End Time or create more than one?

Currently, End Time is 8pm PST during Standard Time (Nov-Mar) and 9pm PDT during Daylight Savings Time (Mar-Nov).

This time was decided after we polled all users in a survey. You can check the results here.

We polled users to decide whether to move End Time earlier or leave it as it is, and the result was that 58.5% of the users wanted to keep the current End Time.

We understand that we have a diverse group of broadcasters, and that a different End Time could work better for some users. In the future, we would like to create multiple End Time periods so that users can choose the one that best fits their lifestyle. However, we cannot do so now because the number of broadcasters is currently too small to constitute multiple End Times that would each be a proper and healthy competitive environment.

If you just can’t broadcast at End Time, gather your Family and strategize how many Support Points will be needed to maintain your rank position. Then, collect those points earlier in the day.

Q: I don’t want to broadcast at End time. Can you let me broadcast at any time I want?

Broadcasters on Pococha can broadcast whenever they like, there are no restriction about this.

While it is not required for broadcasters to broadcast around End Time, we highly encourage it especially those who want to try to be an influencer on Pococha! This is because the results of the Pococha competition are decided at End Time.

Broadcasting right before the meter ends is one of the best ways to increase the amount of support from viewers. Working together, broadcasters and viewers can strategize during this period to achieve their goal.

As a result, whether you take -1 or +1, you can strengthen your bond with your viewers during End Time and create a good community in the long run. We believe this is an effective structure for your future as a creator.

Q: I find it difficult to find viewers when I broadcast at End Time.

Actually, during End Time is when the most viewers are using Pococha! There are about 2x more viewers online during End Time than earlier parts of the day.

However, it is also true that End Time is when the most broadcasters are online. Still, this is a great time to be found by new viewers. So we will share some tips on how to attract viewers at around End Time and stand out from other broadcasters!

First of all, you need to get viewers in your Family to come to your broadcast. To do this, share your broadcast schedule in your Family chat, on your bio, and also during your broadcasts.

Also, when new viewers come in, you need to engage them and convince them to be your fans. For that, here are some tips from the lessons in PocoAcademy, our broadcaster training program!

Tip #1 Give priority to the new viewer and talk to him or her.

  • Stop the conversation going on in the broadcast for a moment to talk with the new viewer(s).
  • Keep in mind that new viewers have extremely short attention spans. It’s also VERY easy to scroll through broadcasters with just the flick of a finger! If you don’t address them quickly, they could leave before you greet them!

Tip#2: Call out the new viewer’s name when they entered your broadcast.

  • Show them that they are welcomed!

Tip #3: Introduce yourself!

  • Your name
  • Talk about your hobbies/special skills/content of your broadcast, etc.
  • Give them a quick intro/invite to the current conversation (ex: “We’re talking about ___ right now — what do you think?”)

Tip #4: Try checking the new viewer’s profile to see if you can quickly learn any of their interests from their profile picture or tags.

  • Tip: You may also be able to see other broadcasters that the viewer commonly watches on their profile. You can also use this to start a conversation!

Tip #5: Try asking a simple question to prompt the new viewer(s) to answer! This can be a simple question such as:

  • Where are you from?
  • Are you new to Pococha? If so, leave a thumbs up!
  • Have you ever been to (location)?
  • What’s your favorite food?
  • Do you like my hat?

Q&A: How To Support Broadcasters & Enjoy Pococha

Thank you to everyone who submitted feedback & questions to our recent blog – How To Support Broadcasters & Enjoy Pococha.

We have reviewed all your questions and are responding to the most frequently asked questions about this blog.

Please take a look! If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact our customer support team.

  1. Q: How does a viewer become a supporter?
  2. Q: What is the point of having a rank meter?
  3. Q: Is it important for viewers to work together to support the broadcaster?
  4. Q: When and how often should I support the broadcaster?
  5. Q: How should I choose a broadcaster to support?
  6. Q: How does the new Family feature work?
  7. Q: Will Pococha be offering more kinds of prizes/rewards to viewers in the future?

Q: How does a viewer become a supporter?

On Pococha, a supporter is any viewer who contributes to the goals of the broadcaster or the fan community!

Usually, a supporter is someone who sends Items to the broadcaster and helps them increase their Rank or win Events. But a supporter does more than just send Items, they also help create goals, manage the Family, collaborate with other viewers, and more.

These Items turn into Support Points that help the broadcaster achieve their goals, and also turn into Diamond rewards that the broadcaster can convert into Pococha Coins or real cash.

Q: What is the point of having a rank meter?

Great question!

We actually cover this topic in detail in a recent blog – Why Should I Broadcast At End Time?

Remember, Pococha is like a communication gaming app in which communities of broadcasters and their supporters compete with each other to achieve goals. In any competition, there must be rules and judgment criteria in order for winners to be chosen.

The Rank Meter creates a fair environment in which all users compete on an even playing field and there can be a clear winner. The End Time of the meter also provides a moment for winners to celebrate with their fans.

Many users may say “But I do not want to be competitive”. We address this concern in a recent blog, Why Do Rank Meters Move?. Pococha is a place for communities that WANT to compete and celebrate victories together.

Instead of viewing the Rank System as the enemy, we encourage our users to redefine it as a great tool to inspire your supporters to rally around. These victories (or defeats) serve as a way for the community to bond and deepen its connection.

Remember, even if a broadcaster does not achieve their desired goal on the meter, they will still receive all normal amounts of Engagement Diamonds from the support their viewers created, regardless of the broadcaster’s Rank. Victories on the rank meter are only for increasing the broadcaster’s Rank. In this way, support is not “worthless” even if the broadcaster may not reach their meter goal.

It is also important to remember that a creator must be competitive on any platform they are on, not just Pococha.

Q: Is it important for viewers to work together to support the broadcaster?

Yes, Pococha is a team sport!

If one truly wants to see their favorite broadcaster and community succeed, it is necessary to collaborate with all members of that community. Once user’s firepower of support cannot sustain a broadcaster by themselves, but others can help!

So, it is important to practice community management with the broadcaster and the other viewers. Talk about goals, create strategy for each day and for Events, and determine the strengths of each Family member!

Q: When and how often should I support the broadcaster?

Great question.

If you a supporter who wants to see the broadcaster increase their Rank and succeed on Pococha, it is important to be consistent about when and how you support!

On Pococha, the rank meter and End Time have been created to allow broadcasters and viewers to achieve daily goals and to celebrate victories regularly. So it is important to try and support as often as possible, usually daily. When a break is needed, the broadcaster and viewers should work together to decide which days to use a Freeze Pass.

It is also important for the viewer to watch and support a broadcaster right before the Rank Meter results are finalized, which is right before End Time. Supporting around End Time is the best way to help ensure the broadcaster can achieve their daily goals.

Q: How should I choose a broadcaster to support?

There are many different kinds of broadcasters on Pococha. So it is important to discover and support the one that works best for you!

First, try to find a broadcaster who has similar interests as you. It is especially important for a broadcaster to be able to talk with a viewer about engaging topics!

Next, focus on broadcasters who are motivated to increase their Rank and succeed on Pococha. This way, a viewer’s support will be a lot more meaningful to them.

Finally, ask the broadcasters what kinds of recognitions and benefits they provide to their supporters. Then you will know what to expect when becoming a top supporter for that community.

Q: How does the new Family feature work?

The Family feature was updated in late October!

We sent out many announcements to users beforehand detailing how the new feature would work. However if you missed those announcements, we will link to the blogs here!

Announcement #1 – New Family Chat Coming Soon!
Announcement #2 – Family Chat Extra Updates
Announcement #3 – Family Chat Updated Timeline

This new Family feature combines all members of previous Families into one Family, and allows the creator to make up to 20 chat rooms! Users can now also tag, reply to, and react to messages in the chat.

To learn how to best utilize these new features, we suggest reading the blog articles above!

Q: Will Pococha be offering more kinds of prizes/rewards to viewers in the future?

The rewards for viewers should always come from the broadcaster! The broadcaster creates unique and personalized benefits and rewards for their supporters.

However, Pococha does want to create moments when broadcasters can better recognize the efforts of the viewer. So, we are thinking about making the Core Fan effect better, so the broadcaster and viewer can have more fun sharing a moment. We will release more details if changes are made.

We are also looking into a new kind of Event that will reward and recognize viewer’s efforts for their support. We are working on finalizing the details for this, and will announce when it is ready.

5 Tips For Asking For Support From Viewers

Hello!

Recently we have received many questions from broadcasters concerning the best ways to increase support from viewers. So we’d like to provide some insight & tips!

Often we hear:

  • How can I turn a viewer into a supporter?
  • I don’t know how to ask for support.
  • Asking for support doesn’t fit my broadcasting style.

We’d like to address these and more!

For this article, we have prepared both a short video and an infographic to help explain!

We’ve also created a feedback survey HERE. Please submit any questions you have that you would like the Pococha team to answer!

Why Is Asking For Support Important?

Broadcasters need support from viewers to achieve their goals!

Pococha isn’t a social media app, or even a normal live streaming app! Pococha is like a communication gaming app in which rewards are given to broadcasters who use viewer support to win competitions. Broadcasters are creators looking to become the next generation of influencers. To reach this level, it is essential for broadcasters to create a community of supportive viewers who can work together to reach common goals.

Some broadcasters think it may be greedy or unnatural to ask for support. But we think this is because they don’t emphasize with the mindset of the viewer!

A viewer WANTS to create a meaningful relationship, and takes pride in helping the broadcaster achieve their goals. Additionally, a good broadcaster provides numerous benefits to viewers as gratitude for their support. When the viewer supports, the broadcaster can make them feel gratified. In turn, this makes the viewer continue supporting and can even increase their support.

If a viewer does not want to support, it is likely they have not discovered the benefits of creating a relationship with the broadcaster. A relationship must be established before a broadcaster can ask for support. Let’s help them out!

Sometimes we also hear from broadcasters that asking for support is “not their style”. Let’s get one thing straight, there’s no one correct way to ask for support!

Every Pococha community is different, and there are many kinds of broadcaster and viewer personalities. So, each method of asking for support should be slightly different. If you are a singing broadcaster, find a way to incorporate your talent into benefits for the viewer. For example, sing the viewer a personalized song when they reach Core Fan status.

What Makes A Viewer Want to Support?

Viewers want to support a creator who proves they have what it takes to reach the top!

A broadcaster who continues to create large goals and tries hard to achieve them is the most likely candidate to earn larger support from viewers.

We know that sometimes it is hard to ask for support, or that sometimes it may not seem effective, but it is an essential part of being a successful broadcaster – results will come! At their core, the best broadcasters are passionate & effective communicators. Therefore, it is fundamental for viewers to understand the goals of a broadcaster.

If the viewer does not know or understand the broadcaster’s goals, they do not have a reason to send support! Likewise if the viewer does not feel a close & personal connection, they are a lot less likely to send support.

Some broadcasters say it is hard to get viewers to send support. This first hurdle might be the toughest, but it is also the most rewarding. We’d like to provide some tips to help turn a first-time viewer into a long-time supporter!

5 Tips For Increasing Viewer Support

Here are 5 tips that will help create a supportive community where viewers are more likely to help.

But first, we recently released a blog for viewers titled “How To Enjoy Pococha & Support Broadcasters”. We encourage broadcasters to read the blog and discuss it with their community! It covers the benefits of being a supporter on Pococha.

Tip #1 – Develop A Close Relationship

As we saw in the results of our viewer research, viewers want to feel a close connection to the broadcaster!

It is hard to ask for support before this relationship has been initiated.

Here’s some great ways to begin getting to know each other:

  • Greet new viewers by name, ask them questions, learn who they are.
  • Check the viewer’s profile see if you can quickly learn their interests.
  • The next time the viewer returns, tell them you remember them and bring up something you talked about. (We suggest taking notes on viewers)
  • The first time a viewer sends support (a heart, small Item, etc) be sure to show a huge amount of appreciation!
  • Think from the viewer’s point of viewer – How would you want the broadcaster to react if you took effort to send an Item?

Tip #2 – Share Goals With Viewers

Once the viewer has gotten to know you as a person, then you can begin to discuss your goals.

A good goal is one that the viewer can help achieve, and that can be completed inside Pococha. A broadcaster can also share their life goals, but it’s important to inform the viewer how they can help by using Pococha.

A good goal is also one that is created with the help of the viewers! Always work together as a Family to create your goals.

For example, a broadcaster’s life goal might be to become a popular cosplay artist. So they can tell the viewer “In order to reach that goal, I want to become A Rank on Pococha – this will create fame and opportunities for me!”

Here’s some other helpful tips:

  • When you share your goal, pretend you are a politician who is running for office. Turn your goal into a dramatic speech that will win over the hearts of the viewer.
  • Create daily, weekly, and monthly goals. This will give viewers long-term goals to aspire for, and short-term goals to practice and keep busy.
    • A daily goal could be “Let’s get +1 on the meter” or “Let’s collect 20 Panda Items”.
    • A monthly goal could be “Let’s reach B Rank!” or “Let’s get 30 more Core Fans”
  • When creating your goals, don’t do it by yourself! Be sure to hold regular conversations with your viewers about what kind of goals you should be achieving together.
  • Post your goals in the background of your broadcast, on your profile, and inside your Family chat!

Tip #3 – Tell The Viewer How They Can Help

Let viewers know that Pococha is a game where BCs can win competitions by receiving support from viewers. To be an effective supporter, the viewer needs to know how to support within the rules of the Pococha game! For example, they must know how their support translates into Support Points, Rank Meter position, Event Points, and more.

Now that you’ve shared your goal with the viewer, you can create the steps necessary to reach that goal. If your goal is to increase Rank, tell viewers that you need to achieve a +1 on the meter. In order to do this, ask your viewers to come support you right before End Time. This way they can be present to help ensure reaching the goal and to celebrate the victory together.

Tip #4 – Start With Small, Then Big Goals

Not all viewers can start sending large Items right away, or help ensure success in an Event. But it is still important to create smaller goals for them!

Give the viewer some “training wheels” goals where they can feel successful and meaningful.

Small Goal Examples:

  • Open 2 PocoBoxes
  • Send 100 Likes
  • Reach 100 Fan Noise by watching & commenting

Once the viewer feels successful with small goals, they will be ready for larger goals!

Large Goal Examples:

  • Become a Core Fan
  • Become a PocoKnight
  • Become a top supporter in the Family

Tip #5 – Create Clear Benefits For The Viewer

If the viewer does not know what kinds of benefits they can receive from their relationship with you, they are unlikely to support!

Be sure to set out clear benefits and different benefit levels based on the amount of support.

For example:

  • Tell new viewers want kind of recognition they can receive when they become a Core Fan.
  • Have unique Item reactions for viewers that create an experience they cannot receive elsewhere.
  • After the month is over, create a special way to thank your top supporters.
  • Turn super supportive viewers into Family Assistants.

Why Should I Broadcast at End Time?

How timing & frequency of broadcasting can lead to success.

Hello!

Thank you for using Pococha.

Recently, we have heard many questions regarding End Time.

Here is when the End Time period ends:

  • 9:00pm Pacific Time – During Daylight Savings Time (Mar-Nov)
  • 8:00pm Pacific Time – During Standard Time (Nov-Mar)

For this article, we have prepared both a short video and an infographic to help explain!

We’ve also created a feedback survey HERE. Please submit any questions you have that you would like the Pococha team to answer!

Broadcasting at End Time is important!

Broadcasters on Pococha can broadcast whenever they like, there are no restriction about this.

Each broadcasting community is unique, and that means different strategies for broadcasting.

While it is not required for broadcasters to broadcast around End Time, we highly encourage it! This is because the competition is decided at End Time.

If you’re a broadcaster looking to increase your Rank, it is important to broadcast at End Time. This allows the broadcaster to track the movement of the Rank meter, which can change rapidly just before End Time.

To learn more about how the Rank System and Rank Meter work, read our recent bog “Why Do Rank Meters Move?”

Additionally, broadcasting at End Time provides a way for viewers and broadcasters to celebrate a victory together – or discuss strategy after a loss.

Let’s pretend you have bought a ticket to your watch your favorite athlete play in a game. If the athlete stops early, the fans will never get to experience the moment of victory of winning!

This is exactly like End Time. Consider it like a finish line of a sporting event. Sharing this moment between broadcaster and supporters is crucial for deepening bonds and growing a fan community. So it’s also important for the supporter to cross the finish line as well!

Pococha is a game of competition, and End Time is the criteria for judging the competitors!

As we explained in our recent blog, Why Do Rank Borders Move, the Rank System and competition are tools a broadcaster can use to increase support from viewers and find success!

In any game of competition, there must be rules and judgment criteria in order for winners to be chosen. Creating a “finish time” to decide the winner creates a fair environment in which there can be a clear winner. This finish line also provides a moment for winners to celebrate with their fans.

Using our sports example again, let’s think about basketball! In basketball, there is usually four 12-min quarters in a game. This means the team has 48 minutes before a winner is decided!

Also, the last few minutes of a sports game is often the most exciting when there is close competition. These last moments are when fans are the most passionate and willing to show support.

The same is true for End Time. Broadcasters and their viewers have 24 hours to try and earn as many Support Points as possible. Then when End Time is over, it is clear who the winners are. The last moments before End Time are the most exciting, and viewers will show more support!

If the rules were more unclear and there was no definite moment that decided who wins a competition, then the broadcasters and the fans would never get moments to celebrate victory.

Why should we compete every day though?

Often we hear from users that they wish the competition on Pococha was less frequent than every day. So, we’d like to explain why End Time happens daily!

It is important for a broadcaster to communicate with their viewers on a frequent basis! If viewers see you less often, they will be less likely to want to support you. Additionally, broadcasting daily offers a chance for broadcasters to prove to viewers they are serious about competition.

For example, consider some friends you had in high school. How many do you keep in contact with still today? Usually the only ones that you still feel close to are the ones that you continue to communicate with frequently. The same is true for broadcasting!

Frequent face to face encounters between broadcasters and viewers will strengthen the relationship, and make it more likely for the community to grow and succeed. This is why we have decided to use one day (24 hours) as the time period for which to judge the competition. It creates more frequent interactions for the community and strengthens their bonds.

If the competition period were longer, like a week or even a month, then broadcasters would likely not broadcast frequently. Many broadcasters would wait until the end of the week and then try to earn all their points at the very last moment.

This creates an undesirable experience for the supporters, who are looking to communicate and interact with the broadcaster as much as possible.

However in addition to the daily communication that is created by End Time, we also have an option for weekly competition. Many Events take place over multiple days. This can be a broadcaster’s chance to compete during a longer period, which also creates a bigger moment of emotion & bonding when the results are revealed.

What if I need breaks?

While it is important to broadcast as much as possible, this doesn’t have to mean every single day. It is important to take breaks, not only for one’s own mental health but also to allow viewers some time off as well.

This is why we offer Freeze Passes.

Freeze Pass is a feature that allows broadcasters to sustain long careers of broadcasting without needing to broadcast all the time.

For a more detailed explanation of Freeze Passes, check out our FAQ site here!

Being a broadcaster means lots of constant and continuous interaction with viewers. So, it’s important for broadcasters and their viewers to take occasional days off. Days off allow the fan community to work harder on days that matter!

We encourage broadcasters to use their Freeze Pass in a strategic way that benefits the whole Family. For example, try using a Freeze Pass on the day before an Event. This will allow viewers to save their support and use more during the competition!

A broadcaster should always discuss their Freeze Pass use, as well as all other strategies, with their viewers! Ask viewers if there is a day when most of them cannot join the broadcast, this is also a great day to use a Freeze Pass!
